General Surgery

General surgeons are physicians who care for patients needing operations for a wide variety of problems.  Common operations performed at Unity Surgical Center include hernia repairs, gallbladder removal, hemorrhoid treatment, placement of infusion ports, and breast surgery, in addition to colonoscopy and gastroscopy. Some surgeries involve routine incisions, while others are performed using laparoscopes with minimal incisions. General surgeons have completed college, four years of medical school, followed by a five year surgery residency, and sometimes a fellowship.  All USC general surgeons are board certified or board eligible, and are Fellows of the American College of Surgeons.
