John Gorup, M.D.

Orthopaedic Spinal Surgery

Dr. John Gorup was North Central Indiana’s first fellowship-trained, board certified orthopedic spine surgeon. He has practiced in Lafayette since 1997. Dr. Gorup attended the Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, La. He served his residency at the State University of New York Health Sciences Center at Downstate, Brooklyn, N.Y.

Dr. Gorup is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and has contributed to several published texts. Dr. Gorup has presented his work nationally and internationally and is on the teaching faculty for some of the world’s largest spinal implant manufacturers, where he also serves as a product consultant. He is technical advisor to the area’s only spinal biomechanics lab and holds several patents.

His areas of expertise include degenerative conditions and deformity of the cervical and lumbar spines. He also performs minimally invasive spinal procedures.
